Tasks and Duties

Week 1 Task: Instructional Design Analysis & Planning

Objective

The goal of this task is to have you analyze a potential learning scenario, identify instructional challenges, and develop a comprehensive plan for an instructional design project. This week, you will focus on the critical planning and strategic analysis that underpins effective instructional design in a real-world context.

Task Description

Your assignment is to create a detailed planning document in a DOC file that outlines the analysis of a learning problem, the planning process for a course solution, and strategies to overcome identified challenges. Your document should include sections on scope, target audience analysis, learning objectives, instructional strategies, and a timeline. Research publicly available data and instructional design theories to back up your recommendations.

Key Steps

  1. Problem Identification: Define a specific learning problem or gap in a hypothetical educational or training scenario.
  2. Audience Analysis: Describe the characteristics, learning preferences, and needs of your target audience.
  3. Learning Objectives: Establish clear, measurable objectives for your instructional solution.
  4. Strategic Planning: Detail a strategy including content curation, instructional methods, assessment approaches, and timeline planning.
  5. Resource Planning: Outline the types of resources (e.g., multimedia, practice activities) that will support learning objectives.

Expected Deliverables

  • A DOC file that includes at least 6 sections covering the areas above.
  • A summary of public research supporting your approach.

Evaluation Criteria

Your submission will be assessed on clarity, organization, thoroughness, innovation, and evidence-based justifications for your planning choices. Demonstrate a solid understanding of instructional design principles and provide a well-structured plan that would serve as a blueprint for a successful instructional project.

Time Requirement

This task is designed to require approximately 30 to 35 hours of work.

Week 2 Task: Course Outline and Storyboarding

Objective

This week's task focuses on the creation of a detailed course outline coupled with storyboarding essential sections of a learning module. The task is designed to enhance your skills in structuring a course in a coherent, engaging, and pedagogically sound manner.

Task Description

You are required to develop a comprehensive outline for a course intended for a specific target audience. Additionally, create a storyboard for at least one critical learning module which demonstrates how content will be delivered interactively or through multimedia. Your DOC file should elaborate on learning modules, session breakdowns, key content points, interactive elements, and transitional processes between activities. Please use appropriate instructional design frameworks to structure your outline and storyboard clearly.

Key Steps

  1. Course Framework: Define the overall architecture of the course including key modules and lessons.
  2. Module Details: For one selected module, design a storyboard detailing learning outcomes, introduction, content delivery methods, interactive components, and assessments.
  3. Timeline and Sequence: Provide a phased approach on how content will be delivered.
  4. Visual and Textual Elements: Identify any media elements that support the module's learning objectives.

Expected Deliverables

  • A DOC file that consists of a numbered course outline and a detailed storyboard for the chosen module.
  • References to public sources, frameworks, or theoretical approaches used.

Evaluation Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated on the logical sequence of course content, creativity in the storyboard presentation, clarity of learning outcomes, and the integration of multimedia elements where appropriate. The document must be logically structured and reflect a thorough understanding of course design and storyboarding in an instructional context.

Time Requirement

This assignment is expected to take approximately 30 to 35 hours to complete.

Week 3 Task: Development of Interactive Learning Activities

Objective

This week, the focus shifts to the design and development of interactive learning activities that enhance user engagement and promote active learning. Your task is to conceptualize and design interactive exercises that could be integrated into a learning management system to reinforce course content.

Task Description

Your assignment is to create a detailed instructional plan in a DOC file for a set of interactive learning activities. These activities should be aligned with specific learning outcomes from a hypothetical or chosen course outline. You are encouraged to integrate elements such as gamification, simulations, quizzes, or role-playing scenarios. Your plan should include a description of each activity, the instructional rationale behind it, an outline of the steps involved, and the methods to evaluate learner performance. Additionally, provide a rationale for the interactive methods chosen based on publicly available educational research.

Key Steps

  1. Activity Selection: Choose 2-3 interactive activities that align with specific learning objectives.
  2. Instructional Rationale: Explain why these activities are appropriate and how they enhance learning retention.
  3. Step-by-Step Plan: Detail the processes and steps required to implement each activity.
  4. Evaluation Strategy: Outline both formative and summative assessment strategies to measure learner outcomes.

Expected Deliverables

  • A DOC file containing a comprehensive guide for the interactive activities, including descriptions, steps, and evaluation metrics.
  • Supporting evidence from public research or instructional design frameworks.

Evaluation Criteria

Your work will be assessed based on the creativity and interactivity of the proposed activities, the clarity of instructions provided, the alignment with learning objectives, and the robustness of the evaluation strategy. Innovative ideas that integrate modern educational technologies will be highly valued.

Time Requirement

This task is designed to take approximately 30 to 35 hours of focused work.

Week 4 Task: Assessment Strategy & Feedback Mechanism Design

Objective

The final week's assignment centers on designing a comprehensive assessment strategy and feedback mechanism that effectively measures learning outcomes and supports continuous improvement in teaching methods.

Task Description

You are required to create an instructional design document in a DOC file that outlines an assessment plan for a hypothetical course module. This document should include various forms of assessments such as formative and summative tools, self-assessment opportunities, peer review strategies, as well as a detailed feedback mechanism to help learners improve. The plan should clearly define the assessment criteria, timing, effective instruction-to-assessment alignment, and methods for capturing and analyzing feedback. Use publicly available academic frameworks and anchoring theories in assessment for justification. This task will push you to consider the interplay between assessment design and instructional improvements.

Key Steps

  1. Assessment Tool Selection: Identify and outline a set of diverse assessment tools tailored to the course module's learning objectives.
  2. Feedback Mechanism: Design a series of strategies for collecting, analyzing, and providing constructive feedback.
  3. Alignment with Objectives: Clearly tie each assessment tool to specific learning outcomes.
  4. Implementation Strategy: Develop a timeline and set of procedures for administering assessments and delivering feedback.

Expected Deliverables

  • A comprehensive DOC file detailing the assessment and feedback plan.
  • Inclusion of theoretical underpinnings and research-based evidence that support your overall strategy.

Evaluation Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated on the completeness and clarity of the assessment plan, the practicality of the feedback strategies, and the overall alignment with instructional goals. Your document must show effective integration of educational assessment theories and articulate a process that could realistically be implemented in a learning environment.

Time Requirement

This assignment is estimated to require approximately 30 to 35 hours to complete.
