Tasks and Duties

Week 1: Project Initiation and Strategic Planning

Task Objective: The focus of this task is to design an agile project initiation plan. You will define the project scope, create a project charter, and develop an initial Agile roadmap. This plan will serve as the foundation for all subsequent tactics and decisions in your virtual internship role, guiding you through the early stages of an agile project lifecycle.

Expected Deliverables:

  • A comprehensive DOC file detailing the project charter, including vision, mission, goals, scope, and key stakeholders.
  • An agile roadmap that outlines key milestones, sprint cycles, and deliverables for the initial phase of the project.
  • A detailed analysis of potential risks with strategic mitigation plans.

Key Steps to Complete the Task:

  1. Research agile project management best practices and study various project initiation templates available publicly.
  2. Draft a project charter document covering project vision, objectives, scope, and constraints.
  3. Create an agile roadmap that maps out the timeline for upcoming sprints and major milestones.
  4. Analyze risks by identifying potential challenges and suggesting relevant mitigation strategies.
  5. Review your document to ensure clarity, cohesion, and comprehensive coverage of all essential aspects.

Evaluation Criteria: The DOC file will be evaluated on its organization, clarity, and adherence to agile principles. The project charter should be detailed, well-structured, and reflective of in-depth planning. The agile roadmap must clearly correlate project phases with sprint cycles. Risk analysis should showcase creativity and thoroughness in planning. Overall, clarity of presentation and professional formatting are key criteria for success.

Week 2: Agile Team Collaboration and User Story Development

Task Objective: This week's task focuses on fostering effective team collaboration by developing comprehensive user stories and mapping them into actionable tasks. The goal is to simulate a collaborative agile environment where user requirements are refined, prioritized, and transformed into a well-organized backlog. This exercise will deepen your understanding of communication strategies within agile frameworks.

Expected Deliverables:

  • A DOC file containing at least 10 detailed user stories, each complete with acceptance criteria, user roles, and clear descriptions.
  • A textual diagram or descriptive layout that illustrates a user story mapping session, including priority levels and sprint associations.
  • A documentation section explaining your methodology, rationale for prioritization, and techniques used for requirement breakdown.

Key Steps to Complete the Task:

  1. Review best practices in agile user story creation and backlog management using publicly available resources.
  2. Select a fictional yet relevant project scenario to base your user stories on.
  3. Develop comprehensive user stories that include precise acceptance criteria and detailed descriptions of user needs.
  4. Create a visual or descriptive representation of your user story mapping process, highlighting how tasks are prioritized.
  5. Compile your research, process, and outcomes into a well-structured DOC file that clearly communicates your thought process.

Evaluation Criteria: Submissions will be assessed based on the clarity and thoroughness of each user story, the logical mapping of tasks onto sprint cycles, and the depth of documentation provided. Effective communication of your methodology and adherence to agile backlog management principles are crucial factors in the overall grading.

Week 3: Sprint Execution and Adaptive Planning

Task Objective: This task is dedicated to executing an agile sprint simulation through a detailed sprint planning process. You will formulate a complete sprint plan, manage a sprint backlog, and illustrate adaptive planning methods to efficiently handle changes during the sprint. The focus is on translating strategy into execution while maintaining the flexibility required by agile methodologies.

Expected Deliverables:

  • A DOC file that outlines a comprehensive sprint plan, including sprint objectives, tasks, expected outcomes, and specific timeframes.
  • A detailed sprint backlog with task assignments, priorities, and estimated efforts.
  • A reflective narrative discussing adaptive strategies and contingency measures to address unforeseen changes during the sprint.

Key Steps to Complete the Task:

  1. Research agile sprint planning techniques and review common frameworks for iterative progress management.
  2. Develop a sprint plan that clearly outlines goals, tasks, and the sprint timeline.
  3. Create a detailed sprint backlog, assigning roles and estimating efforts associated with each task.
  4. Write a reflective commentary on strategies to adapt the plan, including risk management and contingency planning.
  5. Structure the DOC file in clear sections dedicated to planning, execution, and adaptation to ensure a logical flow.

Evaluation Criteria: The evaluation will focus on the clarity, structure, and feasibility of your sprint plan. Emphasis will be placed on how well the task flow is aligned with agile methodologies, the realistic assignment of tasks and timeframes, and the depth of analysis regarding adaptive planning strategies. Professional formatting and a thoughtful narrative are essential for a successful submission.

Week 4: Retrospective Analysis and Continuous Improvement

Task Objective: The final task involves conducting a comprehensive retrospective analysis of a simulated sprint to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Your goal is to reflect on the agile process, analyze results from previous weeks, and propose a continuous improvement plan. This exercise reinforces the critical agile principle of learning from feedback and iterating for enhanced performance.

Expected Deliverables:

  • A DOC file presenting a detailed retrospective analysis, including an assessment of what worked well and what did not during the sprint.
  • A continuous improvement plan that outlines actionable, measurable steps to address identified issues and optimize agile processes.
  • An evaluative section reviewing the overall effectiveness of the agile practices employed, with suggestions for future enhancement.

Key Steps to Complete the Task:

  1. Familiarize yourself with agile retrospective methodologies such as the Start-Stop-Continue or SWOT analysis.
  2. Simulate a sprint scenario based on your previous tasks and document the outcomes and pivotal learnings.
  3. Conduct a thorough analysis of the simulated sprint, identifying key successes, challenges, and areas needing improvement.
  4. Create a detailed continuous improvement plan that provides specific, actionable recommendations backed by your analysis.
  5. Compile your findings, analysis, and proposed strategies into a well-organized DOC file with clearly defined sections.

Evaluation Criteria: Submissions will be evaluated on the depth and insightfulness of your retrospective analysis, the clarity and practicality of your improvement plan, and the overall coherence of your DOC file. A strong focus will be placed on reflective thinking, innovative problem-solving, and adherence to agile continuous improvement principles. Professional presentation and well-supported recommendations are essential for high performance in this task.
